We surveyed small business owners across Santa Clara County to solicit input for the Economic Recovery Roundtable, specifically around the biggest challenges that the businesses face as they plan for re-opening. The survey included the same four questions that were posed to the members of the Recovery Roundtable.
Over 200 small business owners, representing more than 40 industries, responded to the survey. The highest number of survey respondents represented the following industries: beauty, consulting, restaurant/bar, fitness, retail, and nonprofits. Over 90% reported a loss in revenue, with over 60% indicating deep concerns about having to close permanently.
Based on feedback from the survey, the Silicon Valley Recovery Roundtable created a “Reopening Playbook.” The goal of the document is to provide small businesses a centralized source for information around County orders and resources that can enable the businesses to survive and thrive. The playbook incorporated feedback from a focus group of six small business owners and will be socialized across the City and County.
