VOLUNTEERS FOR HEALTH CARE SERVICES

The countywide Hospital Surge Planning Team is working to identify individuals with relevant skills who could support the healthcare system if needed during a surge.  Whether someone works in healthcare or not, talents of all kind are welcome and encouraged.

A significant need for volunteers of all types to support staff in the healthcare setting are projected. This includes both people with direct patient care experience, as well as those with experience in administration and management, office specialties, logistics, environmental services/housekeeping/janitorial services, food service, pharmacy, lab work, social work, case management, information technology, nutrition and more. Find more information here.

Valley Medical Center Foundation is calling for volunteers to make hand-sewn masks at home for non-patient care staff.

PRIVATE SECTOR SUPPORT

Leaders across California are also calling on technology companies and innovators to step up in a big way in statewide partnerships to secure medical equipment.

Bloom Energy, based in San José, is beginning to refurbish the thousands of out-of-service ventilators available in the U.S. The company is working with state agencies and customers to identify supplies of unused, out-of-service ventilators. Organizations that have out of service ventilators or would like to partner with Bloom on this effort can email: ventilators@bloomenergy.com or call +1 (888) 544-2644.

More companies are anticipated to follow suit and bring more solutions to the table to protect vulnerable neighbors.
