Telethon for Silicon Valley Strong

NBC Bay Area in partnership with Bay Area community leaders are coming together to raise funds for the Silicon Valley Strong Fund, which offers financial assistance for our community’s most vulnerable who are financially burdened in the wake of COVID-19.

On March 23, more than a dozen public and private partners came together to announce the launch of an $11M Silicon Valley Strong COVID-19 financial assistance program to provide direct financial assistance to low-income individuals who have lost work due to the COVID crisis.

However, in just three days, the program received 4,400 requests for assistance – exceeding the number of households that could be served with the initial $11 million and forcing the program to stop accepting applications. Since then, more than 6,800 additional households have added their name to an interest list in hopes that more funding will become available.

We must come together as a community to take care of our neighbors during this challenging time. While the federal and state responses are likely to take weeks to deploy, our lowest-income residents need help now to take care of rent, groceries and other basic needs.

Please tune in to NBC Bay Area on Saturday, April 4, at 7 p.m. (Channel 11, Cable 3), on nbcbayarea.com for live stream and step up to give at https://siliconvalleystrong.org/telethon/.
